Ferfal's book was a definate eye-opener. This website is sweet too, and very much appreciated. Without doubt, high inflation/deflation is on the way, and without doubt, crime will go through the roof. I'm a correctional officer, younger than 40, and ex-infantryman. So little room to write what I wish to write. How do I say this…I'm actually scared and starting to buy the things I'll need because I'm taking this seriously. For example : California is laying off 850 state correctional officers, and releasing 40,000 inmates back into the streets over the next year/year and a half. Of those 40,000, how many will be Surenos? Nortenos? MS-13? Eme? They WONT be able to get jobs…what will happen to California? Rip Torn robbing a bank? RIP TORN?! I thought I was the only person prepping (at work) so I started talking to alot of co-workers…turns out I'm not the only one prepping and it turns out I'm not losing my mind (I think). I dearly hope this is all a fairy-tale…but there's that mathematics-thing getting in my way. Money, basic economics…I'm really creeped out. 15 bank closures in the last week & 2 days…Sam's Club giving 12,000 people the boot…Verizon telling 17,000 employee's to "take a hike"…the local PD telling their officers "not to use ATM's unless it's directly affiliated with your bank; even felon's can legally buy ATM's and re-wire them!"…a friend telling me about his brother, who is a cop in a city about 75 miles south, where the people out of work are now rioting 2 nights a week, and how they're unable to deal with it due to lack of manpower. Because I work in a prison, my awareness is way up there already, and I'm not liking what I'm seeing even in my "nice area". As a child, I spent 4 years living in Philadelphia (5th-8th grades). It was sufficiently rough enough back then, that you needed your head "on a swivel", so-to-speak. I don't need to tell anyone, I think, that living in high-stress environments is stressful! To think that our crumbling economy will bring those Philadelphia crime-rates to our front-doors is terrifying. It isnt fun. And I, for one, am scared.

Where in California do you live, Chris? I live in Sacramento and am hoping to move to the hills above Oroville in the next year. If you're south of the Grapevine you REALLY need to get transferred to a prison up north, the deserts are a tinderbox of hopelessness waiting for a match. I hadn't heard of those riots, I know the "official" media is suppressing a lot and there really isn't an underground media worth mentioning. Are the riots "sponsored" by a radical group that tells people "ok, every Wednesday we rumble"? Is that what you were suggesting by riots two nights a week? The fake ATMs were big in Argentina for a while, and then the banking system just died, and there are no ATMs anywhere there now. Oh yeah, welcome.

Hey Chris, welcome aboard. Not much I can say to ease your mind. I live about 70 miles North of Yosemite, which I suspect is where you live. It's not alll hopeless, but it is going to be different. Bullet

Heya Loquisimo : This is the scary bit…I live in Denver, and those riots are in Colorado Springs. Our media here in Denver isn't reporting it (as far as I am aware, and I listen to the radio every day), and from what my friend tells me, the people out of work are getting drunk, and when the bars close, they all stumble out into the streets and whip themselves into a frenzy involving hundreds. They do this every friday and saturday night, if I remember what he told me correctly. Thank you for the welcome =).

Heya EN : Thank you for the welcome =) I'm a bit south of you…your area sounds very appealing about now though. I live in a condo…and I'm only able to strengthen my condo per the HOA, so I'm a little limited there. I'll make do with what I can, and I can't really put into words how encouraging it's been to read everyone's comments in these forums…and how much I appreciate Ferfal for making it happen.

Hey Loq : You hear what I'm saying about those 40,000 inmates right? Those gangs? They're no joke! You probably know about them, and you probably know why it scares me so much (and I'm in Denver!). Google, or even The History Channels' "Gangland" tells you about them. They'll recruit like mad when there's no jobs around. And they're loco. I fear for our nation.

Oh, I see. Yeah, that makes sense-they have no jobs, so they all go out and get drunk and battle the cops for fun. The Mex gangs are really nasty, and there are whole cities in SoCal that are 100% Mex, so the gangs will be the new boss in town. Sacramento has its fair share of Mex communities, we have Surenos trying to muscle in on classic Norteno turf. Not much MS13 here yet, and the Grande Eme prefers to use local gangs as proxies. (Big M=Mexican Mafia.) I'm hoping to get out of here before it really goes down, and get into the hills. They may be loco, but I'm mas loco, as noted by my nickname (=extremely crazy). I'll buy an AK off the street and cut off the firing pin so it goes loco with one trigger pull, bet these tough guys have never seen THAT one before. I'll feed the remnants to my chickens.
