Coming to you from the Texas panhandle. smile

I'm a "civil servant" which translates to I get paid pitiful wages to be yelled at by townspeople who don't want to pay their utility bills.  My husband is a machinist for a company that clearly values lining their own pockets at the expense of their workers, and quality of the products be damned.

I'm the prepper, the husband thinks it's dumb. No big deal. I've been doing it long before I met him, and I'll keep on stocking up and saving whether he thinks it's foolish or not. "You bought another box of shotgun shells?? You already had 3000 rounds!" But despite his eye rolling, he cooperates with my crazy ideas (I converted our entire back yard into a garden/vineyard/orchard) and I know he enjoys the shopping sprees at Cabelas and Bass Pro.

I live in a town full of like minded people. Nearly everyone owns guns and about half garden or own land outside of town that they keep cattle/pigs on. Pretty good location IMO.

Anyway, I found this via FarFAL's Surviving Argentina site, and look forward to reading. smile

Welcome aboard! Greetings It's always good to have another fellow Texan on the site.Texas  Keep up the great work on your preparations.  If there ever comes a time when you need them, I'm sure your husband will have an overnight change of heart about how "dumb" your preps actually are. rolleyes

Howdy Jadalina!

Welcome to the orchard!

Reading some TEOTWAWKI novels to my wife swayed her over into the prepper camp. (though she still rolls her eyes a little when I tell her to keep buying the 20 cents a pound rice as long as she can find itrofl)

Welcome to the forum……..Texas, Texas, Texas…..O'yes now I remember that "little" state down south………rofl

LOOK: Start to get wrapped around the idea that it was over in the Fall of 2008. This is just the dying quivers. Stop waiting for "IT" to happen, "IT" already happened.

Hello Jadalina…welcome. There seems to be a lot of Texans on this forum. I would suspect that Fernando will be joining the Texan ranks here in the near future. When Obama's administration began his socialist agenda, Glen Beck predicted that Texas would lead the resistance to his imposition; so, I guess it seems fitting that we would have so many members on this forum from (as Sourdough would say), that little state down south!Texas

Welcome Jadalina. Interesting story that you're the prepper and hubby isn't. I have a feeling he's going to be grateful, and embarrassed, in the not to distant future.

Welcome aboard Jadalina, glad to have you here. I used to live in Texas, all over Texas as a matter of fact. First DFW area (Farmers Branch) then Austin (not really Texas …. lots of crazy old hippies rofl) then Corpus Christi and last but not least Sugar Land.

Thanks for the welcome y'all! smile

Floridian, I've just watched way too many post apocalyptic movies and I get a secret giggle going when I buy more ammo. It's kind of embarassing heh, like I think I'm gonna wake up in a Resident Evil scenario or some nonsense.

Pete, I'm not sure I'd count on Texas to lead the revolution as long as Rick Perry is running the show. He's been real busy with the remodel on the governor's mansion.

Jamie, don't feel bad. I've been stockpiling ammo and whatnot since 1999. Those 3000 slugs are just what I leave in the gun safe where he can see. If he ever takes a closer look in my shoe closet though, I'm busted.

Jarhead, I grew up in north Dallas and lived alot in the mid cities area before hightailing it to a less populated region. And yeah, Austin is sort of the crazy aunt every family has. I love it where we are now, tho he wants to move back to DFW. Yuk.

Again, thanks for the welcome smile
