Hello,
I live in a somewhat rural area just starting to learn to garden (composting, building up the soil, when and what to plant) You think you know a something about gardening then you find out how little you do know.
I'm married with a large family, I'm a stay at home mom that home schools her kids (been doing it for over 15 years and will be doing it for another 15 years).
I do believe the government is going to go broke and we need to prepare ourselves and family for the coming hard times. I hope to learn some good info from all you "preppers"

Hi Apple: this is the 2nd one of your posts I'm replying to; and, once again: welcome to the orchard! I'm also making the leap into home gardening. Quite the 'trying' experience! Well worth it though. There's lot's of good info in here and we all add to it every day. Please stay tuned!

Welcome. Good to see you here. Nice having someone with a large family because you can talk a bit about what things take in groups. Not too many of us here live with large groups.

LOOK: Start to get wrapped around the idea that it was over in the Fall of 2008. This is just the dying quivers. Stop waiting for "IT" to happen, "IT" already happened.

Howdy AppleBlossom!
Glad to have you in the orchard!
I have been homeschooling for over 15 years and will be for more than another 15 heh heh heh. Well to be honest Mrs. CrabApple does most of the home school work.
Is your family on board with the idea of prepping?
How large is your garden area?
Do you have room for some fruit trees? Apple trees are fantastic investments in the future (but it will be years untill they return your investment) but I wait to buy such things on sale (usually from Gurneys).
(depending on the size of the tree ,dwarf, semi-dwarf, standard… they produce from 2 to up to 15 bushels and the smaller varieties produce in fewer years also)

Welcome from me too! I intend to homeschool mine when they're old enough; my sister already does with her 3 so she's a good help in-waiting, I hope.
