Hi guys and gals!

I'm Feliks.  Got into firearms and preparedness in the last few months after thinking about it for a while.  Stumbled onto Fernando's blog and read his book and I'm hooked!  I've made some good progress in the preps – some food, flashlights and basic things, some guns and ammo and knives and stuff.  Like many of you know, it's a never ending endeavor.  Would love to get into canning (have to clear out some storage space first) like grandma and grandpa used to do back in the Ukraine.  Don't have much property to grow my own food – it is what it is…  Also Fer's advice on keeping in shape for the collapse really got me to exercise more (and now that Ashton Kutcher is preaching it, how can I deny it ;)) Got the wife a little more on board as the months went on and I kept nagging about setting aside canned foods, more guns & ammo and PMs.  She still rolls her eyes at me often when I talk about the coming collapse and prepping – but it's a bit better….

as for my silly moniker – I haven't been involved with forums & discussion groups until very recently – I've been online since the early '90s but never really interesetd in groups and blogs.  The first forum I joined was njgunforums.com and on a whim I chose the handle "px4storm" after the first gun I ever owned – the Beretta PX4Storm.  So I figured it's best to have "brand consistency" on whatever forums I join – so here I am – "px4storm"

I guess that does it for an introduction.  I'm here to learn more – and contribute what I can – been lurking around and reading for a few days now. Happy New Year to all!!!!!

Welcome to the Forum.

LOOK: Start to get wrapped around the idea that it was over in the Fall of 2008. This is just the dying quivers. Stop waiting for "IT" to happen, "IT" already happened.

I loved your intro: greetings and salutations from the People's Republic of New Jerseyrofl…I feel the same way; so, "Hello back to you from the Great Socialist State of Ohio!!!" Wow, from the Ukraine! Ferfal was gathering info from people in that part of the world and adding the discussion to his blog. Hopefully, he'll stumble across you on the forum and pick your brain a bit. Do you still have contacts with family back in the Ukraine? and if so, how are they doing?

The United States' I grew up in no longer exists…click your heals, Dorothy: you're not in Kansas anymore!!

@ Pete – I haven't been in the Ukraine for over 20 years, so "soy un Gringo"  …  I have some relatives that had moved to Israel for some time and then moved back to our home town.  Otherwise, most of my family is either in the US, Canada, Germany, Australia, Israel – anywhere but the former USSR – it sucks over there….

Welcome. And what's wrong with Zombie posts. They will roam the earth! slap

nothing wrong with "zombie posts", EN.  the NJ gun forum that I'm on has a whole zombie preparedness sub-section.  I came here for more realistic preparedness and survival discussion.  I'm down for the occasional "what if the zombies come staggering in" scenario though smile

I've got no problem with zombie posts… in fact I live with a zombie, so its no big deal.

I like zombies, but the slow moving ones like on Night of the Living Dead, not the fast ones like 28 Weeks Later.

10 years from now….. Somewhere in Western Kentucky….An old man tell stories to his grandson…

"Back in my day, Zombies weren't so fast..They shuffled by God, the way them Voodoo priestess intended them too….You whippersnappers show up with your computer games and your plastic pistols and now look at 'em..Look at 'em sprinting like Jesse Owens whooping Hitler's boys in the depression….I tell ya now, when I wuz your age you didn't need laser sights, flashlights and magazines touching the ground. An old 870, Winchester 94,  Smith .38, Hell, even Pap's old Crescent Arms singleshot 12 gauge held together with bailing wire and electricians tape was enough to go huntin' zombies. There was some sporting  fellers that even used muzzleloaders and bows…And I mean real bows, without them fancy damned wheels and gadgets and real muzzleloaders, not them dad blamed inlines with rifle primers and pyrodex powder….What the Hell son? Black powder is SUPPOSED to smell like rotten eggs you sissies….

Aw the hell with it…Hand me that glock, wow.. that's kinda light….Now show me how to flip on that laser…Here comes one of them speed demons now….Give that long magazine just in case…Did I tell you in my day we called 'em clips and no smart ass armchair commandos corrected us neither….."

That's the only part I didn't make up. My Dad asked if I wanted the extra clip and bullets back when he brought me my Kimber over. I made the mistake of saying, "Nah,,I don't need something to keep the hair out of my eyes, but I'll take the MAGAZINE that holds the AMMUNITION, because the bullets by themselves would probably just fall out." Needless to say he put in my place and I am now okay with  calling "magazines" and "ammo" clips and bullets.

And also calling US Model of 1917's "Enfields". I saw Alvin Yorks diary and if anyone should know what that rifle is called it would be him and not some guy I don't know  typing on a computer at gunboards..
