We've talked about Ron Paul on GTA several times. We have all weighed in as to his chances in 2012. I agree with the sentiment that it would be a long, uphill battle to even get the Republican nomination, BUT, I have considered one scenario in which he stands a solid chance. Its simple, really.
The dollar collapses during the Republican Primary race. Everything Dr. Paul has been warning about, all his dire prophecies, all of his ideas now seem so true. He gets the nomination, rides a wave of popular support into the Oval office.
This is the only way I seem him both getting the (R) nomination AND winning the general election.

As much as I like Ron Paul, if he were to win, he is just one man, occupying one branch, swimming against the current. The true uphill battle would begin once he took power. He is got my vote. Republicans at all levels have lost it. If the ballot has a libertarian or constitutional party they get it .

Do you think the sheep will pay attention to a real solution full of pain and sacrifice? Or platitudes from the elite that everything is fine. Hell folks still have checking accounts and Mortgages with the TBTF's. I find Ron Paul niave which is odd in a man of his years. He offers simple answers in a complex world . He doesn't talk about the pain he will bring, and there will be pain. I think there will be pain either way, but the sheep will never vote for anyone honest enough to say it. Trump is pro-choice, Pro-Kelo and anti- gun. Bankrupt 4 times after being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Trump is all about boosting Trump.
I don't think the US economy will last another 18 months
I'm liking Herman Cain so far. But I've always been an odd duck on politics. What I expect is Trump will split the vote and pull a Perot and Obama will have plenty of time to crush the USA if it doesn't happen before 2012.
Honestly I don't the politicians can't fix the USA. It's up to us, 1 person at a time. The 3% the gun owners the homeschoolers. The ones that ask "how can I help?" instead of asking for handout. The one that ask for job instead of unemployment. Mcdonald's had a hiring spree and hired over 62,000 folks. Over 1 million applied for the job. This strikes me as folks want any job.
Look at the tornado storm FEMA is filling out paper work and a local Bubbas has loaded up a 4x4 full of water and food and delivering it to folks that need it now. At today's gas prices out of his own pocket. Just like the blizzards the flooding ignored by Obama.
Give us a mailing address and we will help out. We can't make it better but we can try to make it not so bad.

Paul has made that same point himself, jamie is right the politicians can't/wont fix this. The sheep wont allow it even if they were to get serious and try. They can kick the can farther down the road, but I don't think the are serious enough to do even that.

No doubt……. they have completely taken over the construction industry. It has nothing to do with willingness or Americans refusing to work in the heat. It gets hot in Iraq and Afghanistan but Americans are doing the work. Illegals were able to dominate the industry though cheap labor not working conditions they maintain their dominance by refusing to hire anyone who doesn't speak Spanish. There is a distinct lack of non-hispanics trained in construction due to their dominance of the field. They simply couldn't find enough journeyman carpenters or roofers to rebuild with out using illegals.

I don't think it has so much to do with Spanish speaking illegals doing the work as it does with finding workers en-mass, to do the work 'under the table'. I think we've all done that before, whether it be hiring someone retired from the workforce to do a home remodeling project, a backyard mechanic, or your nephew to mow your grass, under the table labor is 10 times more cost efficient than going through 'the approved channels'. My solution: get rid of the table!!!

Go to any construction site and apply for work,if you can't speak Spanish you wont be able to communicate with 80% of the people there. Then there is also the matter of kick back. Many of the jobs foremen charge each employee a fee to work, gringos as a rule wont pay it. Also they have to worry about Americans turning them in for holding out income taxes but not filing them with the IRS, illegals would never go to the feds.

Ron Paul believes in open borders on the one hand, but he agrees that that is disastrous when you have a welfare state that encourages illegals to apply for benefits. He doesn't like amnesty either, but is against troops on the borders and endless fencing and walls.

If we had a thumbs up button to click on in the Orchard I would 2nd that Gallo.
Paying folks not to work and not to grow crops and to rent housing out to those who can't afford it will NEVER turn out well in the long run.
I do believe in charity, charity will help get someone back on their feet….. BUT but when the government takes it by threat of force and redistributes it without discretion it is not charity.
I don't fault South Americans for coming to the USA by hook or by crook for a better life, in their situation I would do the same. I do fault our federal government for creating the conditions for the problem of illegals to to permeate our society. The use of illegal workers creates problems for lack of opportunity and suppressed wages for legal workers and creates an environment where the illegal worker is subject to abuse and continuing illegal activity.

and: I can see why investing hooks so many folks. It's an addictive game, the trick is no matter which way the market bounces you win. I'm still learning, now I no longer rely on just dumb luck and instinct.
you continually amaze me at how sophisticated you've become in just the last year. but never underestimate instinct and dumb luck. especially dumb luck. i've seen guys run up thousands of dollars at the craps tables on dumb luck. and scotch whiskey. you're going to be good at this if you keep at it.

Exactly,illegals are only taking advantage of what we have offered them.I tend to agree with Ron Paul, I don't object to immigrants coming to this country, I object to the welfare system. Once the immigrants receive citizenship they too will go on welfare and quit working. Low income Americans have to take a pay cut in order to get an entry level job and off of welfare. The trouble is welfare dooms them to eternal low pay where if they took the pay cut and a menial job they could work up to a higher paying job. That's what teenagers did before minimum wage laws put a stop to it.

i DO OBJECT to immigrants. we allow 1.2 million LEGAL immigrants a year to come into this country (all non-euros. look at ferfal, they won't let him in because he's of euro descent). we're short 11 million jobs. how does it make sense to add another million people a year to the labor force when we don't have enough jobs for our own people? it's insane. then add in the illegals and you've got a thirdworld sh!hole, with all of them collecting benefits and jamming up our emergency rooms, forming gangs and raping white women. none of these people come here to be americans, they come here to get the benefits and f**^k our women. and then they call us racists.
look at this birth certificate thing. all the blacks are calling us racists and saying that obama shouldn't have to prove he's a natural born citizen (which is a completely different thing from a citizen. schwarzenegger couldn't run for president because he wasn't born here, even though he WAS a u.s. citizen. it's a legitimate question. even john mccain had to show his long form birth cert in 2008 because his father was stationed in panama when he was born. f%^ this affirmative action sh!t. bring the hammer down. i wanna puke.

Druid, I think this is just the kind of reaction that the TPTB want. I've had no one of any specific color call me a racist or that I'm part of a racist organization. But plenty of elites have… and I find I don't care about what they call me. Do I get mad that men and women take no responsibility for their children. Men that walk away and women that see them as nothing more than a meal ticket to a free ride at taxpayer expense. But this is no longer a racial issue it's an economic, moral and ethical issue. Creating dependency by the PTB's just look at the arguments they use. The children will die (yet abortion is okay) and granny will die (yet euthanasia is okay). I'm surprised their heads don't explode from all the hoops of logic they have to jump through. Or we have to destroy capitalism to save it.
You want to stop illegal hires simply pay them the same as citizens and enforce the labor laws. It's that simple but the PTBs either want more dependents or cheap labor.

no. i'm sure. i believe that there are inherent differences between the races that extend to cognitive ability. i've come to that conclusion from first-hand experience and the ability to do basic arithmetic. i went to a high school that was 1/3 black, 1/3 hispanic, and 1/3 eruo.
occasionally i say things that people are horrified by, and in every case those people went all the way through schools that were 100% euro. the largest irony of all is that euros are the only race that believes in equality. EVERY OTHER race on the planet considers themselves to be superior to all other races.
ferfal posted something the other day about how things might play out in the u.s. with the race factor. he said they didn't have that issue in argentina AT ALL. because they are 85% euro descent. anybody who thinks this isn't going to break along racial lines is either a liar or a fool.
we don't hold non-euros to the same standard. everybody knows who hitler is, but who knows the name of the hutu leader who killed close to a million tutis during a 3 month period in 1994? on a kill per minute basis, he made hitler look like an amateur. were the hutus condemned by the world community, or that sh!thouse UN? no, not a peep.
for those of you who live in rural areas populated by euros, you're not going to need weapons. everyone will pull together. but if you live in urban or suburban neighborhoods with close proximity to non-euro neighborhoods, you're f*^kin' toast. and if you defend yourself or your family, YOU'LL go to jail.
another example: it took me all of 1.3 seconds to see that the new cert obama put out was fake. where are all the so called journalists on this? and i didn't need to enlarge it by 1200% resolution, which other people have done and proved it a fake subsequently. all i had to do was glance at the wording.
gallo, i grew up in california. 30 years ago in 100 degree heat there was nobody but euros up on those roofs nailing away.
jamie: i'm not really interested in what reaction TPTB want. they think they're immune. they've got a big surprise comin'.

Druid the evidence you site is compelling, if not scientific. You're parading on 'touchy' ground that most of us have been conditioned to be wary of through government schooling, mass media, Hollywood and music. To sum things up clearly…realize that the predominant leader race has changed through the course of human history. White man, or Euros as you call them, are still the new kid on the block as far as taking a lead role in world affairs, when you look at the long line of history. Hell, we Americans still look at history through the prism of hundreds of years, whereas the Chinese look at history in terms of thousands of years.
I tend to believe that humans are inherently ethnocentric, regardless of what group they belong to. Birds of a feather do indeed flock together. All the societal and government pressure in the world will never change that basic human trait.
Blacks are an underclass in America primarily because of the welfare state. Look at the black family, black employment rates, black education rates from Abolition until the 1930s. All charts show strong, positive growth and a trend that would have reached parity with whites in all categories if the the New Deal hadn't been enacted.
Now, a point that I totally agree with is racial tension and outright riots are a real possibility post-collapse, if not a foregone conclusion. This doesn't make me hate black people, it makes me hate the welfare system and government policies that has destroyed the black family unit, made them so dependent on government benefits as well as the culture they have developed that looks down on academic achievement and props up so called leaders who are just lap-dogs to big government.

Let me call the whinebulance for all you ladies who are still dwelling in the past glory of the American blue collar worker. News flash, that ship has sailed and it's not docking at our harbor again. Move on, get trained, and get a new job. The market chose it that way, or how else do you explain that capable young men in their own country got disposed of their jobs by unskilled, non-english speaking immigrants?
Druid, you may be a racist, but more so, you are deceived. If you (or any other American) can't make it here, despite the illegal competition, perhaps that person is best suited to be a subject of a monarchy or a dictator, but not a free man in a free country. Don't even call yourself a survivalist, a prepper, or even a racist because all that is undone the moment you start blaming your problems on some pathetic, shirtless wetback. If that guy can take your job, the elite, educated will bend you over a barrel and you'll say thank you. I can show you kids who survive on the streets with torn shoes, cleaning windshields at a corner. How's that for survivalism. It does not get better that the deal you currently have. Man up and cease the opportunity.

If his mother was a citizen then he is. Regardless of where in the world he was actually born. Just as McCain is. All Obama needs do is petition for a US B-cert.
