OK Gallo for my assignment I'm posting on a topic I'm sure you and I will disagree on.
With both jobs and immigration likely topics of sharp debate at tonight's Republican debate here in Florida, a new report suggests that newly-arrived immigrants have filled a majority of new jobs created in Texas.
"Of jobs created in Texas since 2007, 81 percent were taken by newly arrived immigrant workers (legal and illegal)"
Native-born Americans filled just 20 percent of the new jobs
http://campaign2012.washington…..immigrants
Why do you suppose this is ? are native born Americans to lazy, do immigrants work cheaper is there some thing else at play here?

This tells me that there were a lot of crap jobs created in the last 5 years, and a lot technical jobs, but few administrative/management jobs. So the illegal minorities got the low end jobs, and the FOB Indian and Chinese with H1 visas got the tech jobs. Yes, both are willing to do the job for less than their white brethren.

It's due to affirmative action. Merit means nothing anymore. It's become a DNA game instead.
'Diversity bake sale' at UC Berkeley stirs criticism
UC Berkeley student leaders are condemning a campus Republican group's satirical "diversity bake sale" offering pastry prices based on race and gender. The event is designed to denounce a bill on Gov. Jerry Brown's desk that would allow California public universities to consider race, ethnicity and gender in student admissions.

I think gallo is right, native born Americans are being paid not to work. I don't know how this will shake out but it can't be good.

Also, consider that Texas went through a construction boom, an industry dominated by immigrants. Now these guys are not exactly getting paid starvation wages. For all practical purposes they get paid skilled laborer wages sans benefits, which they get courtesy of the state.

JC,
I was watching this morning that John Stossel had the same cupcake sale, except Asians were the ones paying $2.00.
Where I went to school the real competition came from Chinese and Indian.
