What's funny is the Authorities have cut off all shipments of food and fuel and have set up a siege. That is a tactic of weakness and not strength, imo. They can't just wipe them out or are afraid to just wipe them out so a siege it is. I find it a very interesting response in a totalitarian state. Of course the Chinese do think very differently about time than most westerners.

They came into power by being the champions of the people. They cannot now stomp the people without loosing that position and becoming what they originally fought. A seige is the compromise. A seige is passive, so they are not openly oppressive but are trying to control the event. Obviously there are people everywhere that see it for what it is. The people will always win.
