CIA killed Bin Laden.
The timing of this, particularly at a time when Muslim uprisings are everywhere in the middle east and the U.S. is occupying Libya, is suspicious. I'm trying to refrain from conspiracy… but why announce this now? Why give a rallying cry and a martyr to the opposition now???
I'm glad he's gone, but we shall see how the Arab 'street' reacts to this in the worlds most volatiles times.

I got the oddest feeling that Libya was supposed to raise Obama's ratings. Make him look like a tough guy and it totally fizzled. I also find the timing odd as well.
Seems all the military bases were put on alert as well. I'm not sure if it's a "Force protection" measure or something else.
It seems like this is very convenient distraction for the TPTB. OBL was pretty well neutralized, now he is a martyr. I got a bad feeling about this…..

I'm watching a bunch of kids outside the WH celebrating. Some look like they were in diapers when 9/11 happened.

I find it coincidental that NATO went after Colonel Qaddafi on Saturday and missed him (but killed members of his family instead). Is the West stepping up its attacks against terrorists and other evil persons? Wars are expensive and the sooner the troops can come home, the less pressure on the budget (which is way out of whack as it is).
We'll find out soon enough if there will be any retaliation by terrorists against the United States and other western countries. It makes sense to avoid public places and large crowds whenever possible.

It's happening now because our pres is an egomaniac. Yes this, in Obama's mind, gives him cred to campaign on. The diaper brigade outside the WH is paid.
Fallout? The war now comes back to US soil. He is definatley a martyr now. God help us.

I'm with MW on this one. Timing is very odd, maybe a rallying point in advance of something nasty with the Dollar?

He was killed by SEALs and buried at sea, I hope they wrapped his ass in bacon.

Maybe, but if they could they would Bin Laden or not.

WARNING NOW ENTERING THE UNFOUNDED CONSPIRACY THEORY ZONE!
It is possible that Bin Laden has been in custody for any length of time and is still alive and well…. well actually strapped to an inclined plane with a nasal cannula drip.
Obama may have wanted/needed the announcement for political reasons to be seen later. He releases some birth certificate data now he announces Bin Laden's death this is starting to shape up to a great novel.
Something I have wondered about since the 9/11 attacks is…. if they can produce 20 guys willing to do a suicide mission (one guy missed the departure) why don't they produce hundreds of sniper teams (like the DC sniper pattern) or even thug teams (to shoot up malls movie theaters ect). This announcement could gin up that kind of retribution/response.

The mastermind of the 9/11 attacks warned that al-Qaeda has hidden a nuclear bomb in Europe which will unleash a "nuclear hellstorm" if Osama bin Laden is captured, leaked files revealed.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told Guantanamo Bay interrogators the terror group would detonate the nuclear device if the al-Qaeda chief was captured or killed, according to the classified files released by the WikiLeaks website.
Was he BSing….I guess we'll see

I wonder if Obama will use this as his mission accomplished moment and start pulling the troops out of Afghanistan. It would give his re-election chances a great boost.

I think so. And I think this also explains the odd timing.

If his mother was a citizeen then he is. Any child born to a citizen, regardless of the country of birth, is a citizen. All that has to be done is application for a US birth certificate. Interesting that his came from HI after all the Trump stuff.

Its funny how the military wanted to follow Islamic tenants of burial within 24hrs and give OBL a burial at sea…wonder what the Quaran says about assasinating a devout Islamic leader…? Didnt honor that particular tenant, did they?

Wow, Jarhead: I think you nailed it!
Back to conspiracy theory: George W. had the chance to take him out at Tora Bora, and didn't. The troops were drawing down from Iraq and we needed somewhere else to go: enter Libya. AND, Osama was in plain site? 35 miles from Islamabad? For how long? And right next to a police station???? And it took 'til now to get him? I think maybe the PTB might not be in Libya that long…maybe they spent enough money (and blood) in Iraq and Afghanistan and seeing that we're about to go bankrupt (the end of QE2), they need to escalate the troop withdrawals so they can start cutting the budget. Who knows? I know I sound contradictory but that's my point…who knows. As for the celebrating in the streets of New York and the White House: God Bless 'em!! That sends a message to the Middle East that I hope makes them sh!t themselves that they're so mad!!!
