A little comic relief from our president.

Oh my! if he were our only problem, things would be so much easier.

Right, I don't know if I would rather have Obama win or lose. If he wins he will undoubtedly do more to drive our nation into the dirt. But what if he looses? It may be worse. The republicans will no doubt gain control over the house and senate. If they win the presidency too they will have unfettered control of the government (or at least that's what most sheep believe). The dims will still have enough power to block any attempt to get spending under control and republicans will be blamed for their inaction. If a big gov. repub wins he (like Bush) will take us down the same disastrous road that the dims have. If he tries to actually do something the public will howl when they feel the pain if he succeeds . Either way they will lose power after one term and the dims will return to power with more support than before.
On the other hand if Obama wins, congress can block most of what he tries, but will they have the nerve to do it? I doubt it.
We seem to be screwed either way.

Hell, even if RP got elected, how much good can he really get through our slob congress???
This is the essence of why I'm preparing.

I won't get off the couch to vote for Santorum, Cain, Romney, Bachmman, or Perry. I too rather have a stalemate in the White House and congress than unchecked power.

Prepping is defense, not voting is somewhat neutral: what do you do for offense? Mike Church (a Libertarian Commentator) has suggested the States provoke a 2/3's referendum to hold a Constitutional Convention to strip the Federal Government of its power…that no elected official to the Federal office will ever meaningfully reform the federal government due to the fact that the only way to make it to a Federally elected office is to ensure you maintain the establishment in the first place. So, do you pressure your State legislators to reign in the Federal Gov't or is this also an effort in futility?

Until after the crash, when folks take the rose colored glasses off in order to survive, a Constitutional Convention sounds dangerous to me.

The only thing can be done now is postpone the inevitable and we may not be able to do even that. For selfish reasons I would prefer the crash postponed as I believe no one of my age will ever see the other side. For the general population to postpone the crash means a deeper crash.

I have no hope of fixing DC. I think about the only place to be effective is at the local and state level. If we can get the state able to refuse federal money and become independent once again and assert state sovereignty.
Idaho is a case in point as it is creating a health care exchange via Obamacare mandate. Which must be created by 2014 of the feds will set it up themselves. I say force the feds to do the work, drag your feet on every federal over reach. Take cases to court ask for injunctions and reassert the 10th amendment. Create a legal defense fund and ask for donations to fight the feds, at local and state level.
I don't know that it would work via donations but I would contribute to a funds to fight D.C.

Excellent suggestion Jamie. Local governments, including the stinking HOAs, have more influence over our lives than the Fedreal govt. ever will. It only makes sense to change your immediate environment if you want to see change in Washington.

You bet! Arkansas just passed a law that all landlords had to hire licensed contractors to do any repair work on commercial properties . Most cities in Ar had those laws already but now it applies to rural property as well. I do all of my own repair work and this will cut deeply in my bottom line on my rental units.

I bet the licensing brings revenue to the state. This is precisely what we need to be fighting.
