The idea with the green house is to angle the roof to square with the angle of the winter sun AND use the earth for a stabilizing temperature and insulator.

this youtube vidio is interesting for info on the green house itself BUT the last sentence by the Indian gall  around 5:00 is priceless…

to paraphrase "by selling some of the excess vegetables we can defray some of our household costs and even buy notebooks and pencils for our children, when I see these benefits I am inspired to work harder and beleive all our hopes and dreams can come true.

May God bless her abundantly AND may He infect the sheeple with her point of view!

That is bloody brilliant and I think I may have a spot that I could do a modified version of this green house. I know since I got my solar oven I have become much more aware of how the sun hits areas of my yard.

I can get a little walk in green house from Big lots in March and I have just the spot to try it out. Usiing construction grade black plastic garbage bags I could add to the heat absorbtion and the sand bags and bricks I've been picking up could radiate heat back into the greenhouse.

Thanks Crabby this will give me someting to try out for this spring and next winter.

this is to a pdf file for a hoop house built of 3/4 inch pvc, construction plastic and a wood frame base,  and door.

I plan to put one up over a 4x16x5 deep duckweed pond for raising duckweed as fishfood.

I want to keep the fish in a more controllable environment, like a tank indoors.

I also want to pull off the duckweed for feed so I know how much they are eating.

I may put a few in the greenhouse "pond", but I also want to experiment with the duckweed as a purification/filtration system to see how much organic matter it will pull from the water.

After I get the feel for this I probably will try raising some in a "pond" like this.

I've been meaning to get to this video…thank god I did! Impression #1: Crabby: you're the best!!!! Impression #2: I'll never complain about trying to grow produce on my hilltop (notice I didn't poke fun and say "helltop") again!! #3 "May God bless her abundantly AND may He infect the sheeple with her point of view!" I'm infected!!!

OK, I need to do a green house this year.

The video mentioned $200 to build the green house.  I know for the US it's not much but for them $200 must be at least a month's salary, a real good salary.

That's what I was thinking…the per capita income for that area is $690 a year, how many here would invest that kind of their income. Hats off to the lady. I wish her and her family well.

It looked to me like some kind of social program…kind of like the 'Kobal' gas thing they were trying to start in Afghanistan.
